Other Programme Requirements and Policies:

  • Students are required to sign and return the standard ‘Anita Horry Academy (AHA) Release and Waiver of Liability’ form when they start the programmes and to carry a Pilates Teacher Liability Insurance policy (with Anita Horry Academy named as additional insured on the policy).
  • We really want to help you get certified and want to make it as simple as possible for you to do so.  If you have problems financing your education, speak to us to see how we can assist with additional finance.  The academy would need to request timely payments, when they are due. Failure to submit full payment when due may result in late penalties, suspension from the programme, or termination, at my discretion.
  • An initial €100 registration fee which will be applied to your programme will be required as part of your application in order to hold your space. Once we enroll you into a programme, a 25% deposit is required.
  • During the course of the programme there may be opportunities to earn money by working in the studio to help defray tuition costs and fees. Contact me on admin@anitahorryacademy.com for more details.
  • Additional attempts to pass required tests, in whole or part, will require paying the Test Fees again as mentioned below.

Anita Horry Academy (AHA) prides itself to have had exceptional relationships with its former students and thus does not envisage any situations whereby the school terminates student contracts.  However, in order to safeguard continued progress in all our programmes, it is required to include a contingency clause in our terms as follows.

  • Attendance Requirements: Students are expected to be present for Practice and Classroom at least three (3) days per week. Notification must be given as soon as reasonably practicable if a student is planning to be absent. Absenteeism and/or tardiness for 20% or more of the time constitutes Cause for Dismissal.

  • Additional Grounds for Dismissal:
    • Unsatisfactory progress in the programme
    • Late tuition payment
    • Safety or personal violations, including but not limited to:
      • Reckless behaviours that demonstrate a disregard for safety in the Pilates studio and/or contribute to creating a feeling that the studio is an unsafe or insecure environment
      • Failure to correct misuse of equipment and apparatus, and continued unsafe displays or misapplication of exercises
    • Wilful disregard of important instructions that could reasonably be conceived to result in endangering the Student or others
    • All forms of bias including race, ethnicity, gender, disability, national origin, and creed as well as other forms of obstructive and/or obnoxious behaviour which disrupts proper order
    • Inappropriate behaviour or advances towards other students or clients whether verbal or physical
    • Theft or damage to the Studio premises or equipment
    • Being under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances

Course Times

We will contact you a few weeks prior to your course date to confirm the location and times, please allow from 8am-7pm each day until we confirm these with you.

Just so you know, you cannot miss any day of the course or arrive later/leave earlier as there is a lot of content to cover and we want to make sure you get the most out of the course and become an amazing and confident instructor!

Arriving late / leaving early

As just mentioned above, since we operate a tight schedule on the course any missed time, whether part of a day or a full day will not be recuperated. If you need to miss any part of a course, we recommend rescheduling your course to a separate private session outside the course date. Please note there is an additional charge to this which is covered below.

All Anita Horry Academy (AHA) Teacher Training Certification courses involve both theory and practical examinations throughout the course.  Both theory and practical exams must be passed with a pass of a minimum of 75% in order to receive certification; this ensures we maintain the highest standard of instructors possible. Obviously, our aim is to help you as much as possible to be the best you can be. At the end of each level, there will be a practical assessment. If you are progressing well through your studies but somehow have not grasped the teaching aspect yet; you will have the opportunity to carry on practising the modules studied and submit a video of yourself teaching for us to review at a later date once you feel more confident.

It is uncommon for this to happen, but if you fail the theory and practical exams and need a lot more study and practice, you will be required to re-sit the next available course and this will incur a resit fee. See below for fees for each course. We want you to succeed and are with you all the way.  Prior to any course, reading the required materials and watching videos and practising further will help you to come into the course as well prepared as possible.

Upon completion of each course and passing the required final examinations, you will be certified to teach the exercises learned in that course. Please refer to the individual course details.

To date, Anita Horry Academy (AHA) has neither recommended nor dissuaded its graduates from seeking additional certification beyond their Anita Horry Academy (AHA) certification – a certification that is highly regarded within the wellness profession.  Anita Horry Academy (AHA) stands behind its training and certification programs as the highest calibre and most comprehensive of its kind in the industry. To achieve Anita Horry Academy (AHA) certification, students must receive a minimum score of 75% (practical and written) in order to pass.  Pass marks in both the practical and theory sections must be met in order to achieve certification.

The main reason behind accreditation is for insurance purposes which you can receive after completing our courses.

For information regarding Pilates instructor insurance, please contact us at: education@anitahorryacademy.com

The Functional Anatomy course is payable upon online registration to the course and is non-refundable.

Students of the programme become graduates after completing all payment, passing all coursework and exams, and submitting completed timesheets.

Should a student wish to extend their training, they may do so in one of the following ways:

  1. If a student feels they need an additional 12-month term, they may purchase one in advance of its commencement. The additional term gives the student inclusion in all training days, continued studio access, and continues the student’s active status in the Anita Horry Academy (AHA) Teacher Training Programmes. Refer to Contingency Fees below for relevant cost involved.

  1. If a student feels they would benefit from repetition of a particular training, they may purchase an additional single module. This extension grants the student continued studio and administrative access and extends the student’s active status in the Anita Horry Academy (AHA) Teacher Training Programmes. Refer to Contingency Fees below for relevant cost involved.

  1. If a student has missed a training day and feels they would benefit from covering the missed session on a separate they, they may purchase an additional training day. Refer to Contingency Fees below for relevant cost involved.

Leave of Absence refers to the term where the student, for exceptional circumstances, wishes to temporarily terminate the training so that they can recommence in the future.

Should a student require a leave of absence, they must submit a ‘Change of Status Form’. A student returning from a leave of absence would schedule a return interview with myself or a person designated by myself before re-entering the programme.

Should a student wish to withdraw from the programme, they would send a written request for withdrawal to myself or another person designated by myself.

If some of the following conditions apply and progress isn’t satisfactory, a student may be put on probation and action plan will be agreed upon in order to ensure successful completion.

  • Students have two weeks to make up the missed training days, coursework or assignments / tests. Those who fail to make up missed hours will be put on probation.
  • Students on probation then have two additional weeks to make up the missed training days, coursework or assessments or risk expulsion/termination from the programme.

As mentioned above, a student who repeatedly fails to maintain satisfactory progress as outlined above, violates safety regulations, interferes with other students’ learning, is disruptive, obscene, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or does not make timely tuition payments, is subject to immediate termination.

Readmission may be considered after the original payment agreement is paid in full and / or conduct issues have been resolved. A €500 re-entry fee is required, and the student must go through the admissions process again to determine reacceptance into the programme.

Your success is our commitment and we do understand that things might happen which would hinder your training process with our academy. Whilst we endeavour to be as flexible as we can with the course dates, we are, unfortunately unable to offer any refunds for change of minds or circumstances.

If, however you have exceptional circumstances and wish to apply for a credit, you would need to advise us in writing to admin@anitahorryacademy.com  For the benefit of all parties involved, please note that Anita Horry Academy (AHA) operates under the jurisdiction of the Maltese courts.

In the case that you wish to apply for a credit for the fees already paid, the Credit policy is as follows:

  • If the contract is terminated after the 5th (fifth) business day after signing the contract or making the initial payment, a ‘Registration Fee’ equal to 10 percent of the total tuition fee or €100, whichever is less, is deducted from the credit amount. A “registration fee” is any fee charged by a school to process student applications and establish a student record system.

  • If the contract is terminated within 30 days prior to course commencement date, a credit will be given less the €100 Registration fee, plus 15% of total tuition.

  • If training / contract is terminated before the end of the 3rd calendar month after the student begins their course, (i.e. starts the Modules in class), the student will be charged the registration fee established above, plus 35% of the total tuition.

  • If training / contract is terminated after the 1st day of the 4th calendar month but before the end of the 9th calendar month after the student begins their course (i.e. starts the Modules in class) the student will be charged the registration fee established above, plus 75% of the total tuition.

  • If training / contract is terminated after the 1st day of the 10th calendar month after the student begins their course (i.e. starts the Modules in class) the student will be charged the full course amount.

  • When calculating credits, the official date of a student’s termination is the last day of recorded attendance.

No credit will be given:

  • When the student is terminated for a violation of the Conduct Policy mentioned above which gives grounds for dismissal;
  • When a student, without notice, fails to attend classes for thirty calendar days
  • When the student does not give the Academy notice of termination in writing.

If you have exceptional circumstances whereby you are granted a credit for future use, you will be offered the following:

  • Reschedule your course to a future date. You would need to settle any outstanding fees on your course before you re-commence the programme.
  • You can keep your credit on file until you are ready to complete the course. We will be able to extend your course time by a maximum of 1 year (12 months), after which the credit is lost.

Discontinued Programmes

If the Academy discontinues instruction in any programme after students enter training, students must be notified in writing of such events and are entitled to a pro-rated refund of all tuition and fees paid unless comparable training is arranged for by the school and agreed upon, in writing, by the student. A written request for such a refund must be made within 90 days from the date the program was discontinued, and the refund must be paid within 30 days after receipt of such request.

Cancellation of Courses

In the unfortunate event that course enrolment does not meet the minimum required amount of students, the school reserves the right to cancel a starting course. Such an occurrence will be considered a necessary cancellation by the school and will entitle the student to a full refund of all money paid.

Termination (Expulsion) by the School

As mentioned above, a student who fails to maintain satisfactory progress, violates safety regulations, interferes with other students’ work, is disruptive, obscene, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or does not make timely tuition payments, is subject to immediate expulsion. Expelled students will not have any eligibility to any credits or refunds.

Students are expected to share equipment with their peers and to clean equipment thoroughly after use, returning props to their proper locations after each session. Students are responsible for damages to the equipment should it be determined that the damage was due to their irresponsibility and negligence.

We encourage students to ask questions related directly to training topics. When doing so, students are expected to keep their comments and questions concise and relevant.

Students are invited to use the facilities for practice teaching and personal practice. While doing so, they are expected to work around the needs of the Anita Horry Academy (AHA) company overall. Students must ask teachers for permission before observing a session. While observing, students are expected not to intrude on the session in any way. Students should sit a respectful distance from clients, focus on the teacher rather than a specific client, and silence electronic devices. Questions and comments are not permitted during a session.

When students teach what they know, they foster a clear and safe learning environment. Students are expected to teach only from the training received from the Anita Horry Academy (AHA) Training and leave outside modalities outside the studio. Students are expected to use sensitivity in all interactions with their peers.

Our Academy prides itself in constant feedback with students and to date, we have had a very welcoming environment in every teacher training course we presented.  Our students are our extended family and we would like to treat them as such. Bearing in mind we are working towards the same goal, we should harbour positivity, camaraderie and good companionship in our work.  However, in the unfortunate events of having any negative incidents during your training, we would like to assure you that we take your feedback very seriously and will work hard to iron out any issues you might have during your time with us as a student.

To report an incident of harassment, students must advise me in writing by emailing admin@anitahorryacademy.com. If the incident is urgent, the student is requested to notify the designated studio official immediately who will take the necessary procedures.  The student is still required to advise me in writing on the email mentioned above.

If a student wishes to report a grievance within the Anita Horry Academy (AHA)  Training, they may email the Academy on admin@anitahorryacademy.com.

Students must provide updated information to us in the event that they change any contact information. Students must inform facilitators if their physical status changes in any way that can impact their training. Examples include injury, a change in medication, or becoming pregnant during training.
