Magic Circle

MAGIC CIRCLE WORKSHOP
Hours/CECs: 6

Is there anyone who doesn’t love the Magic Circle (aka Pilates Ring, Spring Circle, Resistance Ring, Toning Ring)? So simple, really. Just some steel bands and wooden blocks (or today, lightweight but strong PVC plastic, coated with rubber, with padded contoured foam pads). This little ring of fire can tone your butt, inner thighs, and triceps like nothing else, while at the same time helping you deepen your connection to your core.

Learn how to create inspiring and stimulating Pilates classes incorporating this amazing small piece of Pilates apparatus. Working from beginner level through advanced, this workshop will teach you how the Magic Circle can be used to improve core strength and stability as well as building well defined, strong muscles of the trunk, arms and legs. You will learn and practice safe and progressive transitions from one exercise to the next.

In this 6-hour workshop Anita will present two sections of exercises, starting with a Magic Circle mat class and explore where we can use the magic circle to create variations of the classic Pilates mat exercises. In the second half, we will explore the dedicated Magic Circle repertoire, including standing exercises and neck exercises.

As a Pilates teacher or Fitness instructor you will learn new ways to use the Magic Circle yourself and with clients, including some archival exercises you may not have discovered yet.

Suitable for all levels, but you must be familiar with the Pilates mat exercises!

What you will obtain from this workshop:

  • Learn the history behind the Pilates Magic Circle
  • Acquire the essential technical knowledge to hold a group Mat Class with a Magic Circle
  • Acquire the knowledge about necessary variations/modifications required to hold a multi-level Group Mat Class
  • A workshop completion Certificate from Anita Horry Academy

Workshop Pre-requisites:

  • You must already be a certified Fitness Trainer or Pilates Teacher (copy of Certification required)

Intro to Functional Anatomy

INTRODUCTION TO FUNCTIONAL ANATOMY
Hours/CECs: 4

This is a workshop for those of you who have no prior knowledge nor experience with anatomy. And it is always a good review to go back to basics!

We will start with the basic vocabulary of this discipline and work our way through the various concepts. The emphasis will go to the basic Anatomical Terms and then runs through to the application of Human Anatomy to Pilates.

Movement Principles

MOVEMENT PRINCIPLES (split into 2)
Hours/CECs: 12

Inspired by my late Master Teacher, Bob Liekens who created this workshop and gave me permission to continue his teachings before his passing, in this workshop we cover the universal principles of the human body in motion. We first look at the principles and how they align the body towards its optimal Blueprint . We then address in sequence all necessary actions of these principles to achieve efficiently the intent and goal of all exercises in the method.

In the second part of the workshop we will cover how these principles apply on the Reformer, Mat, Wunda Chair and Cadillac.  We then move on to explore the refining actions of the “loops ” and how they  reinforce and fine tune the core actions in the body. A deeper concentration is created towards an optimal control in practicing the Method.

NO CADILLAC? NO PROBLEM – FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN CREATE A FULLY COMPREHENSIVE WORKOUT ON THE WALL UNIT

Hours/CECs: 4

Space-restricted environments constrain some studio owners to purchase a Cadillac and hence opt for the more economical and space-saving Wall Unit (or sometimes called Tower).  In this workshop we will learn how to design a challenging class that flows from a supine position on the unit to the final position of standing plus some extra alternatives to using the Pilates Cadillac.  The workshop also applies for those studios who do not have a Wall Unit but perhaps own Pilates Springboards or even similar arrangements.

From the Feet Up

FROM THE FEET UP!

Hours/CECs: 2

Inspired by my mentor and teacher Lolita San Miguel, who confirms Joseph Pilates was crazy about the feet. He would recall they are the Foundation of our body.  This workshop highlights the importance of working the feet and how their proper connection relates to the full body workout and ‘internal shower’ we manage to achieve during our Pilates workout. We will cover Joe’s small apparatus such as the Foot Corrector and the Toe Corrector as well as other aids to engage the feet and thus, the rest of the body.

We also offer 1-day, 2-day or 4-day specialty programmes  which are tailored to your individual studio requests

Wunderful Wunda Wurkout

WUNDERFUL WUNDA WURKOUT

Hours/CECs: 4

This is a workshop for those of you who are wanting a hard-core full body workout on the most difficult piece of Pilates Apparatus. I am also able to adapt this workshop to the different types of chairs out there on the market and explain how certain exercises are performed on the various types of chairs.
